Research

Why did I start this blog media?

So, when I moved to US, there was very little information available in Japanese about what to bring or the visa process. I wasn’t sure what to do. This was the background and problem that led me to start this blog. As I researched on Twitter and other sources, I discovered that many Japanese people preparing to move abroad were also facing the same challenges.

Researched from Twitter

With the ease of posting opinions on Twitter, I discovered numerous worries, opinions, life hacks, and other useful information. I thought If I could organize this information in an easy-to-understand way, it would be beneficial not only to myself but also to others.

Researched google keywords

To begin my research, I brainstormed a list of keywords that interested me. However, I needed to determine whether these keywords were actually being searched for. To investigate their monthly search volume and demand, I used Google Keyword Planner.

In the next step, we used Ahrefs to assess the strength of our competitors and understand the potential traffic we could receive if we achieved high rankings. We also examined data related to pages that ranked well for our keywords using the SERP overview feature. This included metrics such as URL rating, backlinks, and top keywords for the site. By doing this, we were able to determine the potential market entry level.

Since we had decided to compete in a blue ocean where companies had not yet entered, our primary focus was on securing keywords with certainty, even if the search volume was low.

Determination

Keyword Selection with High Demand Searches

I have compiled a spreadsheet of keywords that accurately represent the demand I identified in our earlier research.

Launched these keywords Articles

I have written articles that match these keywords. Additionally, I have thoroughly researched information that cannot be found on other competing blogs or websites. I have gathered several pieces of information that are exclusive to this site.

Iteration Process

In this process, we reviewed the results for each article one month after its launch.

I examined the duration of user visits to the web page, the countries from which they accessed it, and the keywords they used to access it from google analytics. I then identified information that should be added to the articles.

Next, I use the Aurora Heatmap plugin in my WordPress installation to determine which parts of my site receive the most clicks.

Additionally, for posts that have already been published, if the products or items that I want customers to click on are not getting clicked, I analyze the reasons.

In some cases, I have boosted sales by positioning promotional product buttons at the beginning of the posts.

Next, I conducted an A/B test on the article I had launched. I collected data by making slight changes to the pages, such as the button positions and keywords, that users accessed each time, even if they were on the same page.

When conducting an A/B test, there are three things to be cautious about to avoid receiving an SEO penalty from Google:

  1. Avoid using cloaking.
  2. Use 302 redirects.
  3. Set rel=’canonical’ to target the original page.

Result

As a result, I have grown my own website, attracting 1 million visitors annually, and facilitated the sale of over 3,000 customer products within 1.5 years since building the website.

Successfully sold over 3,000 client products annually through partnerships.
